USING YOUR MIND RIGHT: THE PATHWAY TO PEACE AND PROSPERITY

USING YOUR MIND RIGHT: THE PATHWAY TO PEACE AND PROSPERITY
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” – Isaiah 26:3

The mind is one of God’s greatest gifts to man. It is the seat of thoughts, imaginations, reasoning, and decisions. Many desire a life filled with peace, prosperity, and progress, yet do not realize that the doorway into that higher life is the proper use of the mind. Isaiah 26:3 introduces a spiritual principle: God keeps in “perfect peace”—shalom shalom, meaning the peace of prosperity—the man whose mind is fixed on Him. This peace is not accidental; it is the result of a deliberate, conscious setting of the mind on the Lord and His Word. But how can you use your mind right?

WAYS TO USE YOUR MIND RIGHT
• SET YOUR MIND ON THE RIGHT THINGS
The first key to using your mind rightly is learning to focus it on the right things. Romans 8:5 declares, “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” To “mind” something means to focus on it, meditate on it, and intentionally give your thoughts to it.

Many believers desire God’s peace yet fill their minds with fear, anxiety, worldly distractions, and negative imaginations. But Scripture teaches that your mind is not an uncontrollable force—you have authority over it. Romans 8:6 states, “To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Life and peace respond to the direction of your thoughts.

• LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR MIND
Deuteronomy 6:5 instructs, “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” At first glance, one may wonder how “might” relates to love. Jesus clarifies this in Matthew 22:37: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

Jesus replaces “might” with “mind,” showing that loving God with your might means loving Him with your mind. To love God with your mind means directing your mental energies, focus, imagination, and reasoning toward Him. When your mind is on God, your energies and actions naturally follow. This is how peace and prosperity flow continuously in your life—your mind becomes aligned with God’s thoughts.

• SEEK THE LORD WITH YOUR MIND
David understood the importance of directing the inner life toward God. In 1 Chronicles 22:19, he instructed Solomon, “Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God.” Seeking God does not mean looking for a missing deity; it means fixing your heart, mind, and affections on Him.

David further said in 1 Chronicles 28:9, “Serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind.” A willing mind is flexible, responsive to the Word, and eager to follow God’s direction. Seeking the Lord happens in the realm of the mind. When your mind is set on Him, your spiritual senses awaken, and confusion gives way to clarity.

• YOUR SPIRIT CAN CONTROL YOUR MIND
A profound truth every believer must know is this: your spirit has the ability to control your mind. You are not a prisoner of your thoughts. Romans 8:5 shows that spiritual people “set” their minds on the things of the Spirit. This is a deliberate action. Your spirit, enlightened by God’s Word, can decide what your mind should think on.

You choose your meditations. You choose what to dwell on. You choose what to reject. Thoughts do not rule you—you rule thoughts. When your mind aligns with your born-again spirit, life moves in the direction of the Word.

Your next level in life will not come by chance—it begins with the proper use of your mind. Isaiah 26:3 assures us that God Himself sustains the man whose mind is stayed on Him in the realm of peace and prosperity. This is a divine principle. Choose today to focus your mind on the Lord. Set your thoughts on His Word. Love Him with your mind. Seek Him with your inner being. Govern your thoughts from your spirit. As you do, you will step into a higher life of peace, prosperity, clarity, and continual victory.
