HAVE THE GOD-KIND OF FAITH
Faith is one of the most powerful forces in the universe. It’s the key to living a victorious life, the secret to receiving divine miracles, and the foundation of a strong relationship with God. But not all faith is the same. The Bible speaks of a special kind of faith — the God-kind of faith — which can move mountains, change situations, and bring the impossible to pass. So, what does it mean to have the God-kind of faith, and how can you develop it in your life?
WHAT IS THE GOD-KIND OF FAITH?
Pastor Chris often emphasizes that the "God-kind of faith" is about believing, speaking, and acting on God's Word without considering natural circumstances or facts. This faith doesn't negotiate with reality but stands firm on the Word of God, it is the faith that believes and speaks things into existence, the faith that doesn’t doubt but holds firm to the promises of God, no matter the circumstances, it is unshakable, steadfast, and confident in God's ability to fulfill His Word.
In Mark 11:22-23, Jesus said to His disciples, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” The original Greek translation of “Have faith in God” can also be rendered as “Have the God-kind of faith.” This kind of faith is active, speaking, and result-oriented.
To better understand the God-kind of faith, let’s break down its unique characteristics:
1. BELIEVES BEFORE SEEING:
The God-kind of faith operates on the principle of believing before seeing. It doesn't rely on physical evidence or visible signs but trusts fully in God's Word. As Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This faith believes that what God has promised is as good as done, even before it manifests in the natural realm.
2. SPEAKS WITH AUTHORITY:
The God-kind of faith is a speaking faith. It’s not silent; it declares God’s promises boldly and confidently. Romans 4:17 says that God “calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” Likewise, when you have the God-kind of faith, you speak to your situations, commanding them to align with God’s will.
In the case of healing the centurion’s servant (Matthew 8:5-13), Jesus didn't need to be physically present to heal; He simply spoke the word, and the servant was healed. Pastor Chris said, “Many people know about healing, but most haven’t been taught how to walk in divine health; so, when we preach divine health, they hear about it and get to know that divine health is theirs. That knowledge will impart faith to their spirits and activate the power of the Word in their lives to walk in divine health.”
3. ACTS ON GOD'S WORD:
True faith isn’t passive; it’s active. The God-kind of faith takes action based on God's Word, even when circumstances seem contrary. James 2:26 tells us, “Faith without works is dead.” When you have this kind of faith, you act as if God’s Word is already fulfilled, trusting Him completely.
4. DOES NOT DOUBT:
The God-kind of faith is unwavering and steadfast. It doesn’t doubt or waver, regardless of the circumstances. Jesus said in Mark 11:23 that faith requires a heart that “does not doubt.” Doubt is the enemy of faith, but the God-kind of faith holds firm to God’s promises, no matter how things appear.
5. ENDURES UNTIL THE END:
This faith is persistent and enduring. It doesn't give up when faced with delays, setbacks, or challenges. The God-kind of faith keeps believing, keeps speaking, and keeps acting until the desired outcome is achieved. Hebrews 10:23 encourages us to “hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
HOW TO DEVELOP THE GOD-KIND OF FAITH
Now that we understand what the God-kind of faith looks like, how can you develop it in your life? Here are practical steps to help you grow in the God-kind of faith:
1. FEED ON GOD'S WORD DAILY:
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). To have the God-kind of faith, you must immerse yourself in the Word of God daily. Meditate on His promises, read scriptures that build your faith, and let His Word renew your mind. The more you fill your heart with God's Word, the stronger your faith will become.
2. SPEAK WORDS OF FAITH:
Your words have power. To walk in the God-kind of faith, you must align your speech with God’s Word. Speak life over your circumstances; declare God's promises over your health, finances, family, and future.
Pastor Chris elaborates, “Faith is expressed primarily through your words; you’re not different from your words. The things that happen with you, and to you in life, are the result of your words; the reason you must talk right and vocalize your faith always.”
3. GUARD AGAINST DOUBT AND FEAR:
Doubt and fear are faith killers. To maintain the God-kind of faith, you must guard your heart and mind against negativity, fear, and doubt. Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith, listen to faith-filled teachings, and reject anything that contradicts God’s promises.
4. PRAY IN THE SPIRIT:
Praying in the Holy Spirit builds up your faith (Jude 1:20). When you pray in tongues, you are edifying yourself and strengthening your inner man. It’s a powerful way to stir up your faith, especially when facing challenges. Spend time praying in the Spirit to boost your confidence in God's ability to do the impossible.
The human mind at its very best is limited, and as a result, can’t be a sure guide for the Christian. Due to the limitation of human understanding, we’re unable to tell those things that are good for us or make the right choices until we look into the Word and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.” — Pastor Chris.
Living by the God-kind of faith is a journey, not a one-time event. It’s a lifestyle of trust, declaration, and action that aligns with God’s will. When you develop this kind of faith, you unlock the power to transform any situation, experience supernatural manifestations, and live a life of victory. Remember, God has given every believer a measure of faith (Romans 12:3). It’s up to you to cultivate it, grow it, and use it to bring God’s promises into reality. The God-kind of faith is not reserved for a select few; it’s available to anyone who dares to believe, speak, and act on God's Word.
So, embrace the God-kind of faith today. Speak to your mountains, declare God’s promises, and watch as His power transforms your life for the better. Remember, with the God-kind of faith, all things are possible!
